Ukraine – what you’re not told
Korea Pictorial
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea magazine (Pictorial) is a companion publication to Korea Today but with an emphasis of telling the story in a more pictorial manner. It’s published, in Pyongyang, by the Foreign Languages Publishing House. I’m not sure how long it has been in existence as a print magazine but assume it has a similar history to that of Korea Today – both the magazines following a similar format to foreign language magazines published in China during its Socialist stage, i.e., Peking Review, China Pictorial and China Reconstructs. To the best of my knowledge issues of Korea Pictorial have only been available in a digital format since 2012 so, unfortunately, at present earlier, digitised versions are not available.

For reasons, which I don’t understand, the downloadable pdfs of Korea Pictorial since issue No. 12, 2023 are huge files – especially No.12, 2023, which exceeds the limit that WordPress allows. Hopefully the publishers will realise that this makes things very awkward for the likes of us in making the magazine accessible to others and will return to a time when the file size was more manageable.
